The 13th Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries

International Business Forum: Building Competitive MAPs Value Chains in South East European Countries – Challenges and Opportunities

Important Announcement

CMAPSEEC Rescheduled to 17–19 March 2027

The Organizing Committee of the 13th Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries (CMAPSEEC) would like to inform all participants, authors, members of the Scientific Committee, partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and stakeholders that the conference has been rescheduled to 17–19 March 2027.

This decision was taken following consultations with the Scientific Committee, institutional partners, and representatives of the medicinal and aromatic plants (MAP) sector across Southeast Europe.

The decision reflects the Organizing Committee’s commitment to further strengthening the scientific programme and broadening participation from the regional and international research community. The additional preparation period will create greater opportunities to attract leading academicians, researchers, and young scientists, while expanding cooperation with universities, research institutions, scientific networks, and professional organizations. We believe that these additional months will contribute to a richer scientific programme, a more diverse exchange of ideas, and stronger regional and international collaboration.

At the same time, the Organizing Committee considered it important to respect the recommendations of its strategic stakeholders and industry partners. Late October coincides with one of the busiest periods for the medicinal and aromatic plants (MAP) sector, when harvesting, processing, trading, and export activities are at their peak. Holding the conference in March will enable broader participation of companies, producer organizations, and other key stakeholders, further strengthening the dialogue between science, industry, and policy.

The Organizing Committee is confident that the new dates will further enhance the scientific quality, regional representation, and overall impact of CMAPSEEC, while providing an even stronger platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange across Southeast Europe.

Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committees, it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 13th Conference on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries (13th CMAPSEEC), which will take place at the Pyramid of Tirana in Tirana, Albania, from 17 to 19 March 2027.

Since its establishment, CMAPSEEC has become an important scientific platform bringing together researchers, academics, industry representatives, and policy makers working in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) across Southeast Europe and beyond. The conference aims to foster scientific dialogue, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and support innovation in the sustainable use and valorization of plant resources.

The conference will promote scientific exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and international collaboration in the fields of plant genetic resources, biodiversity conservation, ethnobotany, phytochemistry, pharmacology, cultivation technologies, post-harvest processing, and sustainable MAP value chains.

The 13th edition of CMAPSEEC will provide an excellent opportunity to present recent scientific achievements, discuss innovative research approaches, and strengthen cooperation between academia, research institutions, and the MAP industry.

CMAPSEEC 2027 will be hosted in Tirana, the vibrant capital of Albania, a city that combines rich cultural heritage with dynamic scientific, educational, and innovation-oriented development. The conference venue, the Pyramid of Tirana, offers a modern and inspiring environment for scientific exchange, networking, and regional cooperation.

The conference is also closely connected with northern Albania and the Albanian Alps, including the region of Malësia e Madhe, one of the most important areas for the cultivation and sustainable management of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) in Albania. Recognized as a key contributor to the national MAP sector and home to one of the largest MAP cultivation areas in the Western Balkans, this region provides an inspiring context for scientific dialogue and collaboration.

In this remarkable environment, CMAPSEEC 2027 will proudly welcome researchers, scientists, professionals, and stakeholders from across Europe and beyond.
